Halle-DUDA! Mets sweep the PIRATES !

Game 4/Happy Birthday "The Animal:"
Mets 6
Pirates 2

Big Pelf vs Charlie Morton

Mejia is out for the rest of the season. Damn right shoulder blade injury!

The Pirates are now 50 games under .500 and us Mets fans thought we had it bad!

The Mets on the other hand are finally a game over .500 in the month of September, 74-73!

The last time the Mets swept a 4 game series at home it was August of 2003. The team they swept, the Rockies. Tonight the Mets finally repeated history! Well the opponent was different this time around but you know what I mean. This was a glorious 4 game sweep. Let's now look at some of the highlights from this game and yep they will include LUCAS DUDA. Oh they will!

In the bottom of the 2nd Duda was up. He was 1 for 33 before this at bat with a BA of .030. Yep those stats are exactly what you would expect from the organization's minor league player of the year! Oh how I use sarcasm! Sadly Duda didn't want to mock me for mocking him and he flew out and was now 1 for 34.

In the bottom of the 4th the Mets were down 2-0 (The Pirates Ronny Cedeno rbi tripled in the top of the 4th to give them the lead) and there were men on 1st and 2nd with 1 out for DUDA. Before this game started I made a prediction that Duda would get a hit or well he would be hit by a pitch. Somehow he was getting on base tonight! And well for once I was right! During Duda's at bat Gary said Duda's been "hitting fly balls lazily" and Ron just wanted Lucas to get out of his darn funk already! And Duda did just that. He doubled, Davis and Thole scored and the game was tied at 2-2! And Gary got to say "Josh Thole safe at home, safe and secure NY LIFE!"

Burkhardt update time! Every single time Kevin Burkhardt was shown in the stands he was poncho-less. It was pouring oh so hard and SNY just kept snubbing Kevin of well a poncho! What's that about!? The guy next to him had a poncho on but nope Burkhardt never received one!

In the bottom of the 5th the Mets were unable to take advantage of a Feliciano lead off walk and a Pagan bunt single BUT I still learned 2 really cool things. Item 1, Pagan served as a translator for Mejia when Mejia talked to the media today. Ron said Angel was SO good he should get a job at the United Nations! Item 2, Ike Davis currently has 68 rib eye steaks. He is 6 rib eye steaks away from breaking Strawberry's club rookie rbi record! I think Ike is going to steal Darryl's thunder!

In the bottom of the 6th with 1 out Duda, get ready for this doubled again! And then Gary got to say "Duda safe at second, safe and secure NY LIFE!" Then with 2 outs Big Pelf singled, and Duda scored, the Mets now had a 3-2 lead over Pittsburgh. And yep Keith told Gary the promo was all his and Cohen stated, "Duda safe at home, safe and secure NY LIFE!" Gary told Keith he could have taken it, Gary had done 3 of these promos already but Keith declined. Mr. Hernandez said he'd take the next one. He didn't! LIAR!

In the bottom of the 8th the Mets took a 6-2 lead over the Pirates thanks to an ANGEL PAGAN double! Crazy Horse has been phenomenal this series! Ron this time around did the honors, "Angel Pagan safe at second, safe and secure NY LIFE." Keith told him he did a splendid job! When Gary asked Ron what he thought of his performance Ron said "It was pretty poor." I do not concur! Ron did a mighty fine job!

Bobby Parnell came in in the top of the 9th, he retired the side 1, 2, 3 and the Mets won and they now have a 4 game winning streak! When was the last time they won 4 games in a row this season? Seriously when was this? Big Pelf got win #15 and really I just wish the Mets could keep playing the Pirates for the remaining 15 games! That would be delightful.

Tomorrow Atlanta is in town and well maybe the Mets can be spoilers and just ruin the Braves chances of making the playoffs. That would be splendid. Niese will be on the mound and hopefully he'll be very very nice. I'd love to see him pitch a real gem!

Let's go Mets! Let's win every remaining game of the season! OH how I dream.

Have a great night folks!
