Spring Training Parking Lot Pecking Order

The Mets are so ridiculous. According to the Star-Ledger, the following Mets were given assigned spots in the player's parking lot:
Johan Santana, Jose Reyes, David Wright, Jeff Francoeur, Jason Bay, Mike Pelfrey, Kelvim Escobar, Carlos Beltran, Francisco Rodriguez, Luis Castillo, Oliver Perez, Alex Cora and Henry Blanco

This is silly. Take a look at the pitchers:

Santana, Pelfrey, Escobar, K-Rod, and Ollie. Oliver Perez and Pelfrey get spots - but John Maine does not? Kelvim Escobar, a new Met coming off shoulder surgery who may not even throw a pitch for us gets a spot, but Pedro Feliciano does not? Over Feliciano, who very may well me sabotaging his career by allowing the Mets to throw him out there 80+ times every year?[1] What a team player! But you can walk.

Ok, how about the hitters?

Reyes, Wright, Francoeur, Bay, Beltran, Castillo, Cora and Blanco. I'm cool with that list until we get to Cora and Blanco. What?! Cora, the utility man with two shredded thumbs? Blanco, the player the Mets admit has no chance to be the starting catcher? They get spots over Daniel Murphy and Angel Pagan - who are actually useful Mets?

I know this isn't particularly earth-shattering news, I just think my Mets are silly.

And you know -- it's not too late to change the placards over the parking spaces -- just in case Mets brass would like to add a Martinez, or Damon, or Delgado, Lopez!

[1] Feliciano appeared in 86 games in 2008 and 88 games in 2009, both numbers leading all of baseball.

Also, NY Sports Dog pointed out earlier this week that at the conclusion of this season, Feliciano will be second all time among Mets in pitching appearances. Truly an underrated player.
